Originally built to allow city residents to cross an unimpeded river during floods that occur in the rainy season, the bridge underwent a project to develop and revive the river area for both locals and tourists to hang out. Since it became the world’s largest fountain with its 570 long meters, Banpo Bridge has earned a distinction and make his entry in the Guinness book of records twice. Indeed, it has also entered for its 10.000 LEDS placed since 2009 on both sides of the bridge.
Named Moonlight Rainbow Fountain, this waterfall in continuous operation powered by 38 pumps is seen illuminated at nightfall. It is usually operating from April to October every day, four to six times for about 20 to 25 minutes, it is programmed to play various show both on night and day. Meanwhile, the night 200 lights illuminate the fountain as it sends up dancing, rainbow-colored jets of water in the air in synchronization with music, just magical, and fairylike. It is also a romantic show for couples to enjoy at night.
